Nick Litwin

Mastering Engineer

Bio

Nick Litwin, was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in October, 1974.

From a family of musicians, he soon showed an interest in sound and music. At the age of 6 he began to attend the “Collegium Musicum”’ in Buenos Aires where he started playing the theoretical rudiments of music. At 13, Nick began working as a sound assistant in the musical group his father was in at the time – connecting cables and carrying instruments. It was there that he discovered the world of sound.

At 15, with some experience in the world of sound, Nick opened a small freelance audio company and started working for other bands and groups, as well as for bigger conventions.

It was at the age of 19, after 6 years of uninterrupted work in the world of sound, when Nick realized his passion was not on stage, but behind the scenes. At 20, he embarked on his first trip to Europe – where he would fall in love with his wife and Spain – to take an intensive course in Sound Engineering, at the Institute of Music and Technology in London. Later he returned to Argentina to work as an assistant at “Silvester Studios”, and after a few months, he was promoted to recording and mixing technician.

Thus, at the age of 25, with 12 years of experience in the audio world, he went to London for an intensive degree in Recording Arts at the SAE Institute in London, under the tutelage of Middlesex University. He graduated with a Thesis in Mastering, which was already his passion.

He was fortunate to stand out in his class – they nicknamed him Nick “The Wiz” – and thanks to that, the SAE authorities proposed that he move to Spain to help set up their new school in Madrid and be one of their teachers and supervisors. Hence, Nick moved to Madrid in 2002, and while working at SAE, he set up the largest mastering studio in Europe, Mastering Mansion.

Since his establishment in Madrid, Nick has dedicated himself entirely to Mastering. He stopped recording and mixing and left the SAE after 2 years due to lack of time. He has mastered more than 2,500 different references for clients in Spain, England, the United States, Russia, Argentina, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, France, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, India, South Africa, Senegal, Mozambique, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic and many others.

Today, he has been in the world of professional sound and music for 32 uninterrupted years – 24 years mastering commercially, and 16 exclusively for his private clients.
